Richard Godsil, the head football coach at Dobson High School in Mesa, was arrested on Thursday, February 13, by Surprise Police. Godsil, who had been employed by Mesa Public Schools since 2019, faces serious charges of furnishing harmful items to minors and aggravated luring of a minor for sexual exploitation.
The arrest took place on the Dobson High campus, where Godsil was taken into custody. According to the Surprise Police Department, Godsil is being held on a $100,000 bond.
Despite the gravity of the charges, the Mesa Public Schools district clarified in a letter to parents that Godsil’s arrest is not related to any students at Dobson High. The district emphasized that Godsil was immediately placed on administrative leave following his arrest, and they are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
“Mr. Godsil was immediately placed on administrative leave and the district is, and will continue to, fully cooperate with the Surprise Police Department in their investigation,” said Dobson High School Principal Gabbi Buckley in her letter to parents.
