A Southern California man has been arrested in connection with the cold case murder of two brothers that took place nearly two decades ago.
Richard Ferris, 50, from Moreno Valley, was taken into custody on August 1 by Riverside County sheriff’s deputies. He is accused of killing Louie Granado, 24, and Glenn Granado, 34, on January 29, 2006.
Shortly before 2 a.m. on that day, deputies responded to reports of a shooting near Pepper Court and John F. Kennedy Drive in Moreno Valley. The two brothers were found shot to death inside their vehicle. Despite a thorough search, the gunman was never located at the time.
Homicide detectives had identified Ferris as a suspect several years into the investigation, but there was insufficient evidence to charge him, and the case eventually went cold.
In April 2025, investigators reopened the case after uncovering new information. After several months of additional investigation, authorities gathered enough evidence to arrest Ferris in Boyle Heights.
Ferris was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on murder charges. Officials have not released further details regarding a possible motive or the relationship between Ferris and the victims.
