TOWN OF CHEMUNG, N.Y. (WETM) – An Elmira man was arrested Wednesday after deputies say he was caught leaving the scene of a burglary at the former O’Brien’s Inn in Chemung.

Richard Brennan, 49, was charged with third-degree burglary, a class D felony, following the incident on July 10.

According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of a break-in at the long-closed motel on County Route 60. Upon arrival, they spotted Brennan leaving the area.

After being stopped, Brennan admitted to entering the building and taking items from inside. He was placed under arrest, processed in court, and released pending a future court appearance.
