Ri Bhoi, Meghalaya, October 11, 2025 — The Ri Bhoi Police have arrested 22-year-old Iainehskhem Kharsati for the homicide of a 13-year-old girl whose body was found in a forest under Mawlasnai Police Outpost on October 9.
Kharsati, a resident under Mawlasnai Post Office in Umiam Police Station jurisdiction, was apprehended during the night of October 10–11. Superintendent of Police, Ri Bhoi, Vivekanand Rathore, confirmed that the accused has confessed to the murder.
While the motive behind the homicide is still unknown, authorities are conducting a thorough investigation. “The motive will be determined once the interrogation process begins,” SP Rathore said.
The community is deeply shaken by the incident, demanding justice for the young victim. Police have assured that the case is being handled with urgency and sensitivity.
