Mararikulam South, Kerala: A 37-year-old retired Navy officer, Binu V William, has been arrested in a major drug bust after authorities seized 1.2 kg of ganja and 10 cannabis plants from his residence in Poomkavu.
The operation was conducted by the Excise Enforcement and Anti-Narcotic Special Squad, led by Circle Inspector A Sebastian, following a tip-off. Officials revealed that William had taken voluntary retirement from the Navy after 15 years of service, and there are suspicions that he may have consumed drugs even while serving.
Investigations indicate that the marijuana was sourced from Bengaluru. The arrest falls under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and the Excise Department has urged the public to report drug-related activities, emphasizing intensified inspections during the election period.
