The Sampigehalli police in Bengaluru’s North-East Division solved a house burglary case in just 24 hours, arresting a woman who reportedly disguised herself as a man and used a fake scooter number plate to avoid detection.
The complainant, Sangameshwar (42), a resident of Agrahara Layout, Yelahanka, told police that he and his wife had left home after dropping their children at school on Tuesday. Upon returning around 5:30 pm, he found the front door broken and valuables missing, including 30 grams of gold, 60 grams of silver, and ₹15,000 in cash.
A case was registered under Section 331(1) (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking) and Section 305 (theft) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was immediately formed, which quickly followed leads. Acting swiftly, the police arrested the main accused, Reshma (45), from Amarajyothi Layout on January 14.
Authorities praised the fast and meticulous police action in cracking the case within a day, highlighting the efficiency of local law enforcement in Bengaluru.
