An investigation into a stolen motorcycle in southern Illinois led to the arrest of the woman who originally reported the theft.
Renee Pennell, from Williamson County, filed a report with the sheriff’s office in November, claiming her Harley Davidson motorcycle had been stolen. However, upon further investigation, authorities discovered that Pennell had actually signed the title of the bike over to a friend before reporting it stolen.
It was determined that Pennell staged the theft to collect insurance money.
On Friday, February 14, she was arrested and booked into the Williamson County Jail on charges related to her fraudulent claim.
