IBERIA PARISH, La. (KLFY) — A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred in Iberia Parish in March.

On Monday around 11:40 a.m., law enforcement officials apprehended Reginald Peters Jr. after spotting him at a store on the 800 block of East Dale Street. Peters attempted to flee on foot but was captured following a short pursuit.

The charges stem from a March 22 incident, when authorities responded to reports of a shooting just before 10:45 p.m. on South LaSalle Street. Upon arrival, they discovered a man lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following an investigation, officials were able to identify Peters as the primary suspect and secured arrest warrants on April 17. Peters is now in custody and facing charges related to the homicide.
