READING, Pa. — Two suspected mail thieves are in custody following a police pursuit in Reading, Berks County.
Jared Ramirez and Joshua Ramos, both from New York, were arrested after authorities discovered evidence linking them to mail theft.
A search of their vehicle revealed approximately 500 pieces of mail, cash, washed checks, multiple bank cards not belonging to the suspects, and a post office master key. Investigators also recovered other tools commonly used in mail theft. Authorities are still investigating how the suspects obtained the master key.
Berks County District Attorney John Adams noted that most of the recovered mail consisted of Christmas cards. The mail will be returned so the letters reach their intended recipients in time for the holiday season.
