Greene County, MO – A man was arrested Thursday after deputies responded to a report of suspicious activity near the Greene County Jail.

Raymond Steadman was allegedly seen peering under vehicles parked at the facility and attempting to open the hood of one. Jail staff confronted him, after which he entered another vehicle owned by a jail employee and attempted to drive away.

Steadman was quickly stopped by staff after driving a short distance. When questioned by deputies, he claimed he believed the vehicle was his.

He was taken into custody and is now facing charges of Unauthorized Entry of a Motor Vehicle and Auto Theft.
