BROOKLYN PARK, Md. — A Baltimore man, Raymond Earl Jenkins, 28, was arrested on November 5 after stealing a car, shoplifting, and fleeing from police, authorities reported.
At approximately 11:20 a.m., a patrol officer received an alert from a license plate reader regarding a stolen silver 2025 Mazda CX50 in the 4000 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park. The vehicle was located in the Dollar General parking lot at 5107 Ritchie Highway.
Police say Jenkins fled north on Ritchie Highway toward Baltimore as officers approached. A Dollar General employee reported that Jenkins had stolen multiple items from the store before fleeing.
Investigators later identified the suspect as Jenkins. He was located near Olmstead Street and Curtis Avenue in Baltimore. When officers attempted to arrest him, Jenkins assaulted an officer and ran into a building on Morrison Court. With assistance from the Baltimore Police Department, Jenkins was taken into custody.
The stolen Mazda CX50 was recovered in the 1400 block of Olmstead Street. Jenkins now faces multiple charges, including car theft, shoplifting, and assault on a police officer.
