In a major crackdown on narcotics, Goa Police arrested three individuals and seized drugs worth Rs23 lakh in two separate raids conducted over the weekend.
On Monday, the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) raided a location in Patto, Panaji, and apprehended Raviraj Rivonkar (26) from Verna and Lingu Donur (35) from Margao. The duo was found in possession of 170 grams of hydroponic weed, valued at approximately Rs17 lakh. DySP Nerlon Albuquerque confirmed that investigations are underway to trace the source of the high-value contraband. Both accused were remanded to two-day police custody.
In a separate operation on Sunday, Ponda police arrested Benefito Fernandes, a resident of Poinguinim, from Borim. He was allegedly waiting for a buyer while carrying 6.3 kg of ganja, estimated to be worth Rs6.3 lakh.
These coordinated actions underline law enforcement’s intensified efforts to curb drug distribution networks in Goa.
