LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) — A 23-year-old remodeling worker has been arrested and charged with stealing prescription medication from a Walmart pharmacy.

According to the Laredo Police Department, the incident occurred on August 26 at the Walmart located on San Bernardo Avenue. Store loss prevention staff reported that a bottle of Clonazepam, valued at approximately $115.87, had gone missing from the pharmacy.

After reviewing surveillance footage, investigators identified the suspect as Raul Botello, a member of a remodeling crew working inside the store. The video allegedly showed Botello vacuuming the area before discreetly taking the medication bottle from a shelf and hiding it in his left pant pocket.

Following the investigation, an arrest warrant was issued, and on October 3, Botello was formally charged with theft of property.

Police continue to remind businesses to monitor internal contractors and review security footage regularly to prevent similar incidents.
