In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Ratlam police seized 440 grams of MDMA worth Rs 44.2 lakh and arrested two men on Wednesday. The operation was led by Manak Chowk police station in-charge Anurag Yadav under the supervision of Additional SP Rakesh Khakha.
Acting on a tip-off, a special police team set a trap near Karmadi village after learning about two suspects involved in supplying MD drugs in the area. The suspects were described as one man wearing a cream shirt and black pants with a full beard, and another in a maroon T-shirt and black pants with shorter facial hair.
The arrested men were identified as Bhavesh Bhai Rawal (36), from Morbi district, Gujarat, and Alpesh Pargharmore (25), a resident of Nahara Basti, Nagpur, Maharashtra. Police recovered 440 grams of MDMA worth Rs 44.2 lakh, Rs 3,000 cash, and two mobile phones valued at Rs 40,000 from them. A case was registered under Sections 8 and 22 of the NDPS Act at Manak Chowk police station.
During interrogation, the accused revealed they were transporting the drugs from Mandsaur to Gujarat when arrested. Further investigations are ongoing to uncover more details about the drug supply network.
This bust comes shortly after another successful operation by the Manak Chowk police on July 6, when three individuals were arrested and a haul including brown sugar, MD drugs, and a car valued at Rs 18.05 lakh was seized under various NDPS Act sections.
