With the arrest of two individuals, Delhi Police on Monday claimed to have dismantled a fake government recruitment scam that defrauded numerous job seekers across India. The accused allegedly directed victims to register on counterfeit websites posing as official government portals, complete with photographs of ministers and senior government officials to enhance credibility.
The primary accused, Rashid Choudhury, is said to have masterminded the operation under the banner of a fictitious body named the National Rural Development and Recreation Mission (NRDRM). He falsely portrayed it as part of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) to lure unsuspecting applicants.
Choudhury, along with his associate Ikbal Hussain (27), was arrested on Sunday. The duo ran a cyber scam that capitalized on India’s high demand for government jobs by exploiting public trust in official-looking platforms.
According to police, investigations are ongoing to identify the number of victims and trace the financial trail of the scam.
