CHARLESTON, S.C. (WJHL) — Rashaad Green, 31, of Union, and Shaquille Barber, 30, of Moore, were sentenced to federal prison on February 28, 2025, for their roles in money laundering and firearms possession in connection with drug trafficking activities.

U.S. District Judge Donald C. Coggins sentenced Green to 15 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, while Barber was sentenced to seven years in prison, also with a five-year term of court-ordered supervision.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of South Carolina, between 2020 and 2024, Green and Barber traveled frequently to California and other western states, where they obtained large quantities of marijuana intended for distribution in South Carolina. The two men engaged in money exchanges at various financial institutions, laundering the proceeds from their illegal activities.

Court records revealed that hundreds of thousands of dollars flowed through their financial accounts, indicating the scale of their operation. In addition to drug trafficking, Green and Barber were found to possess firearms, which were connected to their drug dealings.

As part of their sentencing, Judge Coggins ordered the forfeiture of valuable assets. Green’s assets include jewelry, firearms, and cash, along with a $500,000 forfeiture judgment. Barber was ordered to forfeit jewelry, a Rolex watch, a 2019 Audi Q8, a firearm, and cash, with a $250,000 forfeiture judgment.

This sentencing underscores the serious consequences of drug trafficking and money laundering, with the court taking steps to seize assets tied to criminal enterprises.
