Hazaribag, Jharkhand: In a major development, police in Hazaribag district have arrested nine individuals, including the alleged gang leader Ranvir Kumar Singh, also known as Chotu, in connection with a high-value robbery that occurred in Babhni village on September 13.
The robbers had looted gold jewellery worth approximately Rs80 lakh, prompting swift action from the local police. According to Superintendent of Police Anjani Anjan, the arrests were made in the Hatiyari area, along National Highway-33, falling under Muffasil police station limits.
A special investigation team (SIT) was formed immediately after the complaint was registered two days after the robbery. The SIT tracked the gang and launched an operation that led to the arrests.
During the crackdown, police recovered:
131 gold ornaments
25 silver coins
Two motorcycles
One country-made pistol
Various other items used during or acquired from the robbery
SP Anjan confirmed that the gang’s leader, Ranvir Kumar Singh alias Chotu, played a central role in planning and executing the robbery. All suspects are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway.
