A tragic accident claimed the life of 16-year-old Ranjith, a Class XI student of Peerkankaranai Government Higher Secondary School, on Saturday night. Two of his classmates, Vetri Vel and Sarvesh, suffered serious injuries when their motorcycle collided with a car on Vandalur–Kelambakkam Road.

The three boys, all residents of Kolapakkam near Vandalur, were traveling at high speed near a petrol station when a car coming from the opposite direction struck their bike. Ranjith, who was riding the motorcycle, died instantly at the scene. Vetri Vel and Sarvesh were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The car driver, 35-year-old Vasanthakumar from Thazhambur, was arrested by the Guduvanchery traffic investigation police. Authorities have registered a case and are conducting further investigations. Police confirmed that the students were riding recklessly prior to the crash.
