A former associate pastor at Living Word Church has been sentenced for multiple sex crimes, authorities said.
Randy Saylor will serve at least 10 years in prison after pleading no contest to charges of criminal sexual conduct involving a child and a family member.
During the sentencing hearing Tuesday, one of Saylor’s victims delivered an emotional impact statement:
“My peace of mind has been replaced by a constant anxiety that doesn’t ‘switch off.’ It hasn’t necessarily gotten easier to talk about over time, I’ve simply had to get used to the feeling of carrying it. There are thoughts I can never get out of my mind and images that will never fade enough.”
Saylor will receive 33 days credit for time served. His maximum sentence is 25 years. Authorities said the case highlights the lasting trauma victims of sexual abuse endure.
