PARAGOULD, Ark. — Randy Barnes, 40, of Jonesboro, is being held without bond after Paragould police said he stole more than $1,300 worth of merchandise from the Walmart Supercenter on Oct. 5.

Officers charged Barnes with commercial burglary and theft of property, both Class D felonies, as well as obstructing governmental operations, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to authorities, Barnes entered the store at 2802 W. Kingshighway, walked out with approximately $1,355 of unpaid merchandise, and initially provided a false name and date of birth when questioned.

Detective Sergeant Jacob Higdon said Barnes was later identified via online databases. Investigators also noted Barnes has multiple prior convictions for theft and commercial burglary and had been banned from Walmart.

Barnes is currently being held in the Greene County Detention Center, awaiting his next court appearance.
