AMARILLO, Texas — Randall Bivins was convicted and sentenced to 35 years in prison for domestic violence strangulation and kidnapping following a brutal incident in Potter County.
The sentences will run concurrently, stemming from the same case.
On October 10, 2023, multiple 911 calls captured a woman crying and a man yelling. Police linked the calls to Bivins through the caller’s cellphone number.
When officers contacted Bivins by phone, he claimed the call was accidental and that everything was fine. Despite efforts, police couldn’t locate Bivins or the victim immediately.
Hours later, the victim’s son called 911, reporting his mother had been dropped off with visible injuries.
The victim told police Bivins had choked, assaulted, and confined her in their vehicle for hours before abandoning her. She also revealed prior abuse.
District Attorney Jason Herring praised the victim’s courage: “An abusive partner often relies on silence. We are grateful she spoke out so justice could be served.”
The DA’s Office also acknowledged Amarillo PD’s Domestic Violence Unit, victim coordinator, and community partners like Family Support Services for their support.
