In a coordinated operation, the District Special Team (DST) and Dau police conducted two raids in Tonk district on Monday, seizing illegal narcotics valued at Rs20 lakh.
The seized contraband included 2 kg of opium, 53 kg of poppy husk powder, 1.5 kg of ganja, along with Rs11,040 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales. Police also recovered a car and a motorcycle used in the illegal activities. A case was registered under the NDPS Act.
Tonk Superintendent of Police Rajesh Kumar Meena told TOI that officers have been instructed to take strict action against illegal drugs in the district. The narcotics were seized at Lambaharisigh, and two accused—Ramlal (47) and Mukesh (40)—were arrested near the Mehndwas police station area.
The operation highlights the district police’s intensified crackdown on drug trafficking, with further investigations underway to trace additional links and accomplices in the syndicate.
