Ghamahapur, Bihar: A 17-year-old boy, Shanu Ali, was brutally beaten to death near Panditpur by Ramesh Patel and his associates over allegations of stealing a mobile phone.
According to ACP (Rohania) Sanjiv Sharma, the incident occurred Saturday night when Patel and his six accomplices confronted Shanu Ali under the pretext of resolving the theft dispute. They took him near a culvert in front of a petrol pump outside Panditpur and began assaulting him.
The boy was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Shanu Ali had been working as a mason to support his mother and two siblings following his father’s death. His uncle, Akhtar Ali, stated that Patel had been targeting Shanu Ali for some time and suspected he had provided information that led to Patel’s previous arrest in a cattle smuggling case in 2015.
A murder case has been lodged against Ramesh Patel and his six accomplices. Police teams are investigating all angles, including the accused’s prior criminal record. Patel is a known history-sheeter with a background in cattle smuggling, and authorities are examining his connections in the area.
The case highlights ongoing issues of youth vulnerability to criminal intimidation in rural Bihar and the importance of timely police intervention.
