In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Sopore Police arrested four individuals, including Rameez Ahmad Mir, for possession of narcotic substances. Acting on intelligence provided by local residents, the police conducted coordinated operations that led to multiple arrests and seizures.
According to an official statement, the raids resulted in the recovery of significant quantities of banned substances, including bottles of codeine-based syrup and a substance resembling brown sugar.
One of the accused, Rameez Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir and a resident of Adipora, Sopore, was apprehended at Adipora Crossing. Police recovered 13 bottles of codeine syrup with tampered labels from his possession.
Three separate First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in connection with the arrests. The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests may follow.
Authorities have urged the public to continue cooperating in the fight against drug abuse and trafficking in the region.
