In a joint effort with local residents, Punjab Police arrested a man in Kapurthala after he was allegedly found in possession of heroin.
According to police, Assistant Sub-Inspector Bhupinder Singh, along with Head Constable Amrik Singh, was present at the Kapurthala Sadar Police Station when several local residents brought in a suspect they had apprehended.
The residents informed officers that the man was allegedly involved in selling narcotics and had been caught on suspicion of drug trafficking.
Upon taking him into custody, police conducted preliminary questioning during which the accused identified himself as Raman Kumar, a resident of the Dera Jaggu Shah area under Kapurthala city police limits.
During a search, officials reportedly recovered 4.30 grams of heroin from his possession.
Following the seizure, police registered a case against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Further investigation into the matter is currently underway.
