The Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Squad arrested two individuals for possessing MD drugs worth Rs9 lakh during a late-night operation in Shivankar Nagar, Nagpur. The raid was part of a larger anti-drug campaign spearheaded by Police Commissioner Ravinder Singal, aimed at curbing drug possession and trafficking in the city.

Acting on a tip-off received during a patrol under the Nandanvan Police Station limits, the squad set up a trap between midnight and 2:30 AM on October 17 near Shivankar Nagar slum, Panthela. The suspects were intercepted in a car and a moped, which were found to be carrying 57 grams of MD (Mephedrone) powder.

The accused were identified as:

Raju alias Raviraj Baghel (28), resident of Shivankar Nagar

Shubham Bagde (26), resident of Juna Sakkardara

Upon interrogation, the suspects revealed they were sourcing the drugs from Wasim Sheikh, a resident of Kamptee, who is currently absconding. Authorities have launched a manhunt to trace him.

The seized items include:

57g MD powder

One car and one moped

A mobile phone

A case has been registered under Sections 8(c), 22(c), and 29 of the NDPS Act at Nandanvan Police Station. The arrested duo has been handed over to authorities for further investigation.

The operation is part of the ongoing initiative to make Nagpur a narcotics-free city, with strict action against suppliers, peddlers, and consumers.
