The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Tuesday made further progress in the ongoing Madurai Corporation property tax scam by arresting four individuals linked to the fraud.
The arrested include Rajkumar (35), an in-charge bill collector, and three contract workers: P. Sangaiah (36), K. Premkumar (34), and Lima Rosemary (41). All four were allegedly involved in the manipulation and misappropriation of property tax records and payments.
Authorities believe the scam may involve a larger network of insiders who tampered with payment data, resulting in significant revenue losses for the Madurai Corporation.
The investigation is ongoing, and more arrests are expected as officials continue to trace the money trail and examine digital and paper records related to tax collections.
