The Rajkot City Crime Branch has arrested six individuals involved in an Aadhaar card tampering scam, in which people’s personal details were altered without proper documents. The arrests followed a raid at a Jan Seva Kendra on Raiya Road, where the accused charged Rs 500–Rs 700 for changes such as name, address, and mobile number.
The arrested have been identified as:
Ravi Dhadhaniya (26)
Haresh Sakariya (44)
Bipin alias Vishal Chovatiya (36)
Jugesh Besara (32)
Sarthak Borad (29)
Dhanpal Boricha (28)
Police investigation revealed that the accused were helping applicants who lacked the necessary documents by tampering with PAN cards, marriage certificates, birth certificates, and government gazettes to facilitate fraudulent Aadhaar updates.
According to Rajkot DCP Crime Dr. Parthrajsinh Gohil, the case has been registered under BNS Sections 336(2), 337, 339, 340, 54, 61(2), and others.
Interrogation revealed that Sarthak Borad and Dhanpal Boricha had permission to run the Jan Seva Kendra at Shivam Infotech, Brahmasamaj Chowk, for the past 1.5 years. Bipin and Jugesh scanned and edited applicants’ documents using software such as Paint and Aadhaar Magic before uploading them to the Aadhaar portal as genuine. Ravi and Haresh were responsible for bringing in clients.
During raids, police seized 58 fake documents, computers, and printers used in the scam. Investigations indicate that applicants from other districts were also using the center for fraudulent Aadhaar updates.
According to PSI Shaktisinh Chudasama, forged documents prepared at the center were sent to Ravi Dhadhaniya, who used his authorized access at the Karnataka Bank branch on Nirmala Convent Road to upload the fake details to the Aadhaar portal. Police are continuing investigations to identify whether more people were involved.
