Chikkaballapura police have arrested expelled Congress leader Rajiv Gowda after a 13-day manhunt. He is accused of verbally abusing and threatening Amrutha Gowda, commissioner of the Sidlagatta city municipal council.
The allegations stem from a dispute over a banner promoting a film starring a minister’s son, which Gowda’s supporters had put up. A video of a phone call in which Gowda reportedly used abusive language and issued threats went viral on social media.
Authorities caught Gowda near the Karnataka–Kerala border, where he was allegedly attempting to flee. The arrest comes amid heightened scrutiny of political misconduct in the region.
