Rajinder Singh, Wife Seema Held with 18.5 Kg Poppy Husk

by Ananya Mehta

In a crackdown on drug smuggling, Rajinder Singh of Ghattianwali Bodla village in Fazilka and his wife Seema were arrested in Sriganganagar for transporting 18.5 kg of poppy husk. The couple was reportedly paid Rs4,000 to smuggle the contraband from Lalgarh in Rajasthan to Fazilka.

Superintendent of Police Gaurav Yadav stated that the arrest was made during routine checking near the BSF campus road. The seized narcotics and their mode of transport suggest the involvement of a broader smuggling network, which authorities are now investigating.

The couple is now in custody, and legal proceedings under the NDPS Act are underway.
