In a significant step against narcotics trafficking, Dhubri district police arrested two alleged drug peddlers on Monday evening near National Highway 17 in the Golakganj area of Assam. The operation, based on reliable intelligence, led to the seizure of a sizable quantity of illegal synthetic drugs.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajib Sarkar (36), son of Korim Miya, and Hasmat Ali (30), son of Abdul Miya—both hailing from Bidyadabri Part II under the jurisdiction of Golakganj Police Station.

During the search, the police recovered 175 Yaba tablets, weighing approximately 15 grams. Yaba, a powerful synthetic stimulant, is often trafficked across borders and poses a growing threat among youth in the region.

A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and a full-scale investigation is ongoing to determine the source of the drugs and uncover any broader trafficking links.
