The Pune Police Crime Branch, along with Pimpri-Chinchwad police, arrested two men involved in a daring daylight robbery at a jewellery store in Dhayari. The duo, who used a toy gun to threaten shop staff, were arrested on Thursday.
The accused have been identified as Rajesh alias Raju Galphade and Shyam Sheshrao Shinde, both residents of Landewadi in Bhosari. According to police sources, Galphade works as a labourer, while Shinde is employed as a driver.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the trio behind the robbery planned the crime to make quick money. The third suspect involved in the heist remains at large, and efforts are underway to trace him.
Police also recovered the motorbike used during the robbery. It was found abandoned near Pu La Deshpande Garden on Sinhagad Road, a key clue that helped lead to the arrests.
Authorities are continuing the investigation and have not ruled out the possibility of the suspects’ involvement in other similar crimes.
