Nagaur Police achieved a major breakthrough in organized theft operations by arresting Rajesh Bawariya, the leader of the inter-state Bawariya gang. The gang was responsible for numerous high-value burglaries across multiple districts, cumulatively worth several lakhs of rupees.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of SP Mridul Kachhawa, with supervision from Additional SP Sumit Kumar and Circle Officer Rampratap Vishnoi, and field leadership by Kotwali SHO Vedpal Shivran.
The investigation began after a complaint on September 23 reported a burglary at Mulchand Latial’s residence, where thieves stole 14 tolas of gold, silver ornaments, and Rs7 lakh in cash. Further probe linked six additional incidents, including four burglaries in Nagaur, one in Merta City, and one shop theft, all tied to the same gang.
Rajesh Bawariya (19), son of Laxman alias Totaram, a resident of Haripura, Naraina Police Station area, and currently staying in Rojhdi, Jaipur Rural, was arrested near the Rojhdi border following intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering.
Police reviewed over 1,500 CCTV footages, including toll plazas across Nagaur, Merta City, Bikaner, Ajmer, and Jaipur, to trace the accused and his gang members.
During interrogation, Bawariya admitted to committing the burglaries with a gang of 10–15 members. The gang carried out daytime reconnaissance of targeted houses, used vehicles with fake or no number plates, and executed robberies with 2–3 members entering while others guarded the outside. They also carried slingshots, stones, and wooden sticks to intimidate victims.
SP Mridul Kachhawa stated that the ongoing investigation could help solve several other burglary cases across Nagaur, Merta City, Didwana, Bikaner, Ajmer, Pali, Sirohi, and Jaipur. Special police teams remain deployed to apprehend the gang’s remaining absconding members.
