Noida police arrested a man wanted in a murder case since December 2024 after a gunfight on Thursday. The accused, Rajesh alias Mukesh, who had a bounty of Rs25,000 on his head, was injured during the exchange of gunfire. His condition is stable, according to the police.
Rajesh, along with his accomplice Ishwar Chand alias Rinku, was charged with the murder of Sukhram in December 2024. The two suspects allegedly stabbed Sukhram to death using a sharp weapon near Asclepius Hospital in Kulesara. While Ishwar Chand was arrested earlier and is currently in jail, Rajesh had been absconding since the incident.
According to the DCP (Central Noida), police received information on Thursday that Rajesh was near Kakarala Pushta Road for some work. A team was dispatched to arrest him.
“Upon seeing the police, the suspect opened fire and attempted to flee. The officers retaliated, and a gunfight ensued. The suspect was injured and immediately transported to the hospital,” the DCP explained.
An illegal pistol and cartridges were recovered from Rajesh’s possession. An FIR has been filed against the accused under Section 103 (1) of the BNS.
