The Chandigarh police have solved a recent burglary in Dhanas with the arrest of 20-year-old Rajesh, alias Kancha, and two others who were found in possession of stolen property. The breakthrough led to the recovery of gold and silver ornaments, electronic gadgets, and other valuables.

The theft, reported on July 2 at Sarangpur police station by local resident Radha, involved the loss of three mobile phones, jewellery, a Titan watch, Rs20,000 in cash, ATM cards, a driving licence, and pen drives.

Based on secret inputs, Rajesh, a resident of Dhanas, was nabbed. Two mobile phones and a pair of silver anklets were seized from him during the arrest. Upon questioning, he admitted to committing the thefts to fund his drug addiction. He further disclosed that he sold the stolen items to individuals within his neighborhood.

Acting on his statement, police arrested 26-year-old Rohit and 18-year-old Lallu, also from Dhanas, for purchasing stolen property. Rohit has prior cases under the NDPS Act, while Rajesh has earlier cases under IPC Sections 379 and 411. Lallu, however, had no previous criminal history.

All three have been remanded to judicial custody as the investigation continues.
