In a major breakthrough, the Indore police arrested Rajeev Kumar Vishwakarma, the proprietor of Shriram Infra Company, from Gurugram, Haryana, for allegedly defrauding multiple investors of Rs35 lakh in a fake property investment scheme.
According to Additional DCP Rajesh Dandotiya, Vishwakarma lured victims — including the primary complainant Akash Bansal — with promises of high returns from investments in “profitable plots” under a purported IDA scheme. Between March and May 2024, he collected Rs35 lakh from Bansal but disappeared soon after, delivering neither the plots nor the promised returns.
The accused, a resident of IDA Colony, Scheme No. 134 in Indore and a native of Uttar Pradesh, holds a BA degree and previously worked in property brokering and share trading. During preliminary interrogation, he admitted to similar fraudulent activities in other states, including Uttar Pradesh.
A case has been registered under Sections 409 and 420 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police have secured his remand for further interrogation to uncover the full extent of the scam and identify potential accomplices.
Authorities urge other possible victims to come forward.
