A shocking murder in Ravla Mandi, Ganganagar, Rajasthan has stunned locals after a man was killed in what was initially reported as a hit-and-run. Police later confirmed the crime was premeditated, orchestrated by the victim’s wife and her lover.
The victim, Ashish, had been married for just three months to Arju (also known as Anjali). Investigators said marital dissatisfaction drove Arju to conspire with her boyfriend, Sanjay alias Sanju, and two accomplices to murder her husband.
According to District Superintendent of Police Dr. Amrita Duhan, a report was lodged on January 31, 2026, by Ashish’s uncle, claiming Ashish had died after being struck by a vehicle. Initially registered as a road accident, post-mortem and forensic examination raised suspicions.
Forensic experts from the FSL revealed that on the night of the murder, Arju lured Ashish to a secluded road under the pretext of a walk. Hidden accomplices attacked him with sticks, rendered him unconscious, and strangled him with a muffler. To disguise the crime as an accident and cover a potential robbery, Arju handed over Ashish’s phone and her earrings to the assailants before they fled.
Following the investigation, police arrested Arju, Sanjay, Rohit alias Rocky, and Badal alias Siddharth.
Authorities noted similarities to a previous case in Jaipur, where a woman allegedly plotted her husband’s murder with her lover, reportedly inspired by TV crime shows like CID. Such cases highlight the rising trend of premeditated domestic murders in the region and the role of meticulous planning to mislead investigations.
Police continue to probe to uncover further details and ensure all accomplices are brought to justice.
