In a significant breakthrough against international drug smuggling, Rajasthan Police arrested two foreign nationals in Jaipur on Thursday, seizing 116 grams of cocaine valued at over Rs 1 crore. Along with the cocaine, authorities recovered 11 mobile phones, a laptop, a motorcycle, and Rs 45,000 in cash from the possession of the accused.
The arrested individuals were identified as Michael, a resident of South Africa, and Emmanuel, a Nigerian national. The operation was carried out by the District Special East Team under the ongoing “Operation Clean Sweep” initiative aimed at curbing illegal drug activities in Jaipur.
According to DCP East Kavendra Singh Sagar, the two accused had been living in a rented apartment in the Pratap Nagar area of Jaipur for the past eight months. Following intelligence reports about cocaine smuggling activities, the police raided the apartment and arrested Michael and Emmanuel with the contraband. The duo was later presented before the court, and their remand was granted.
A case has been registered against them at the Pratap Nagar Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police revealed that the accused had been supplying cocaine to college students and nearby hotels while living in Jaipur. Additionally, police confirmed that Michael’s visa had expired, raising further concerns about his stay in India. Investigations are ongoing to uncover more details of their drug trafficking operations.
