A 24-year-old man from Rajasthan has been arrested for allegedly stealing a KIA Seltos SUV, valued at approximately Rs 8 lakh, in Bagalur, Bengaluru. The vehicle was recovered from Barmer in Rajasthan.
The vehicle owner, Balaji, told police that the SUV, purchased in 2020 in his wife’s name, was parked next to their house on February 26. The car went missing when he woke up around 6 a.m. the following day.
Police identified the accused as Haribajan, who reportedly confessed that he and his associates broke the window and windshield, bypassed the ignition, and drove away with the vehicle. Based on his confession, the stolen SUV was recovered from a roadside near Kharad village along NH-68 in Barmer.
Authorities added that Haribajan’s family has been allegedly involved in multiple vehicle theft cases. They are believed to transport stolen cars to Rajasthan and sell them at lower prices without proper documentation.
