On Saturday, August 23, 2025, the Rajamangalam police in Chennai arrested three individuals, including a history-sheeter and a college student, successfully thwarting a revenge murder plan.

The incident traces back to a 2019 dispute over a temple in Rajamangalam, which resulted in the murder of a man named Janakiraman. In retaliation, Janakiraman’s relatives killed Sarath last year. Recently, the Rajamangalam crime wing received a tip-off about a fresh murder plot brewing between the two factions aiming to avenge each other’s losses.

Following an intensive investigation, the police apprehended Nitish from Janakiraman’s faction last week. After questioning him, they arrested three more suspects: Rathinam (also known as Rathinakumar), a 23-year-old history-sheeter from Villivakkam linked to Janakiraman’s side; Vedant, a 20-year-old college student from Kolathur; and Bose, aged 31, from Ambattur.

All three accused were produced before the court and subsequently remanded to police custody.
