In a major crackdown, Bhubaneswar’s Chandrasekharpur Police arrested Rahul Roy, alias Suprabhat Bhattacharya, a 29-year-old fraudulent placement officer from West Bengal, for duping students under the pretext of job placements through a private training institute.

The arrest followed a complaint from 23-year-old student Subhasree, who alleged that Roy, serving as placement coordinator at National Aviation Academy Pvt. Ltd., promised lucrative job placements during a training program from March 12 to April 8, 2025. Exploiting the students’ career aspirations, Roy collected Rs56,120 from Subhasree and Rs1,10,000 from another student, Sanghamitra, under false assurances of employment.

Police investigations revealed the use of forged documents and fake communications to deceive the students. A police raid led to Roy’s arrest, and he confessed during interrogation. Authorities are continuing their probe to identify other accomplices and victims.
