The Delhi Police have arrested a 30-year-old man named Rahul for running an elaborate online job scam, officials said on Tuesday. The operation posed as a legitimate recruitment agency and targeted job seekers, including a 19-year-old victim who lost over Rs9,000.
The scam was uncovered following a complaint from the young man, who had applied for a cashier job through a fraudulent mobile app called JOB HAI after seeing its ad on social media. He was contacted by someone posing as HR Kamal and asked to attend a walk-in interview in Nirman Vihar.
According to DCP Prashant Gautam (Shahdara), the complainant was offered a role at a grocery delivery firm but was asked to pay multiple charges—ranging from registration to document processing and TDS. Over Rs9,000 was paid via UPI between May 27 and June 6, 2025, through QR codes sent by the accused. When the complainant refused further payments, he was blocked.
The so-called placement agency, Treasure Find Solution, was found to be completely fake.
During the investigation, mobile forensics traced the payment accounts to two individuals, Shivam and Abhishek Tiwari. One mobile number was linked to Rahul, active since October 2024. Police raids in Noida and Bahadurgarh led to Rahul’s arrest, while his wife Seema, also allegedly involved, is currently absconding.
Rahul admitted to operating without legal authorization and confessed that he and Seema had been running similar scams under different names since 2011, preying on vulnerable job seekers.
From the rented office in Nirman Vihar, police recovered Rahul’s mobile phone containing incriminating data, over 100 candidate resumes, Aadhaar copies, service agreements, and an official stamp of the fake agency.
