Amritsar: The B-Division police have arrested Rahul alias Mithu, 34, for allegedly snatching a mobile phone from a woman near Teg Royal Hotel. During the arrest, the stolen handset and the Activa scooter used in the crime were recovered.
The victim, Sneha, filed a complaint stating that around 7:30 am on February 2, a scooter-borne man intercepted her and snatched her Realme phone before fleeing. Police intercepted the accused near the Jahajgarh area, where he fell off his scooter while attempting to escape and sustained minor injuries. He was then overpowered and taken into custody.
Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar confirmed that Rahul has a criminal record, including three prior cases under the NDPS Act, as well as theft and cheating cases registered in 2022 and 2024 across different police divisions.
A case under Section 304 of the BNS has been registered against him, and investigations are ongoing to examine any additional offenses.
