CALHOUN COUNTY, S.C. — A Denmark man is facing charges after authorities say he exploited two vulnerable adults in a rental scam.
According to Calhoun County Sheriff Summers, Raheem R. Glover was charged with exploitation of a vulnerable adult following an investigation into the alleged scheme.
Investigators determined that Glover convinced the victims they were renting a mobile home. After collecting money from them, authorities say he denied knowing the individuals and ceased all communication.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about rental scams. The Federal Trade Commission warns that scammers frequently post fake rental listings designed to lure potential tenants with attractive prices, locations, and amenities.
The sheriff’s office encourages consumers to carefully verify listings and avoid sending money before confirming a property’s legitimacy.
