In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, Naharlagun police arrested a 35-year-old man, Rage Kena, after seizing over 6.5 kg of cannabis. The police action followed a tip-off, leading to a raid on Kena’s rented house in the Papunallah area.
Initially, 33.4 grams of cannabis were found, but further investigation revealed a larger stash of 6.5 kg hidden in a white sack. Kena, originally from Giba village in Upper Subansiri district, was arrested and booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
This successful operation is part of the ongoing efforts by Naharlagun police to curb drug abuse under “Operation Dawn.” The raid was conducted under the supervision of Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Khoda Bath, with the police taking swift action after receiving information regarding the storage of cannabis.
Naharlagun SP Mihin Gambo confirmed that the case has been registered under Naharlagun PS Case No. 150/24 U/S 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act. Investigations are still ongoing, with authorities working to dismantle the drug network operating in the region.
