Radja Nainggolan Arrested in Belgium on Drug Trafficking Charges
Belgian footballer Radja Nainggolan, known for his time at Roma, Inter Milan, and Cagliari, has been arrested in connection with an international cocaine trafficking investigation.
Nainggolan, 36, was taken into custody after 30 raids were carried out across Antwerp and Brussels on Monday morning. The arrest is part of an ongoing probe into the alleged importation of cocaine from South America to Europe, with the Port of Antwerp being a key point of entry.
The Brussels Prosecutor’s Office confirmed the arrest but did not provide further details, stating they would not comment further for now.
Nainggolan enjoyed a long career in Italy, beginning at Piacenza before moving to Cagliari in 2010. He later became a star at AS Roma, where he scored 28 goals in 138 Serie A appearances from 2014 to 2018. After a stint at Inter Milan, he returned to Cagliari on loan. More recently, he returned to Belgium to play for second-division club KSC Lokeren-Temse, where he made his debut last Friday with a remarkable goal from a corner in a 1-0 win over Koninklijke Lierse.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into Nainggolan’s involvement in the drug trafficking operation, with more details expected to emerge as the case develops.
