GRAVENHURST, ON — A 34-year-old Gravenhurst woman, Rachelle Mackey, has been sentenced to three months of house arrest followed by three months of curfew after pleading guilty to a series of thefts committed across Muskoka.

Court proceedings revealed that on February 1, 2024, Mackey was caught on surveillance stealing a grinder from a cannabis shop in Gravenhurst. Just months later, on May 31, she was filmed again at the same store stealing a “one-hitter” smoking device.

Mackey’s criminal activity dates back further. In November 2022, while working at a Bracebridge restaurant, she stole between $100 and $300 from a staff tip-out box.

In September 2024, she escalated her actions by smashing a car window to steal a wallet, cash, and other items.

The court noted that Mackey has a prior criminal record, which was taken into account during sentencing.

She will now serve three months under house arrest, followed by three months under a curfew, as part of her sentence.
