Rabbi Yosef Mordechai Paryzer, a 35-year-old American educator at a Jerusalem yeshiva, has been arrested on charges of rape and fraud after using a fake identity on Tinder to deceive women. The Israel Police released both his real and altered profile pictures in an effort to identify additional victims who may have been misled into sexual encounters with the married rabbi.
Paryzer, who is married with two children, reportedly posed as a secular Jew under the alias “Jake Segal” or “Jake Westman” on dating apps, claiming to be a guide dog trainer. He deceived several women into believing he was seeking a long-term relationship, but his true intentions were to engage in sex, exploiting his false persona.
The case surfaced when the victims, having been contacted by Paryzer, decided to confront him collectively. One woman invited him to her home, where others had gathered to confront him about his deception.
The victims emphasized that sex under false pretenses, including misrepresentation of identity, is considered rape under the law. So far, seven women have filed complaints, and authorities are seeking other potential victims. Paryzer has been remanded in custody while the investigation continues.
