In a major anti-drug crackdown, Rabale MIDC Police raided a residence in Ishwar Nagar, Digha, on Sunday morning, seizing 252 grams of Mephedrone (MD) powder valued at approximately Rs75 lakh.
The operation, conducted at 8 a.m., followed a tip-off about illegal drug activity involving a woman named Shantabai and her son-in-law. A police team comprising three officers and 20 constables, both male and female, carried out the raid.
During the search, officers recovered the MD powder, a weighing scale, and 250 plastic packets typically used for packaging narcotics.
Four individuals — Nilesh Basanna Naik, Shailesh Basanna Naik, Usha Roshan Naik, and Jyoti Nilesh Naik — all residents of Airoli, Navi Mumbai, were arrested and brought to Rabale MIDC Police Station.
Two others, Roshan Basanna Naik and Shantabai, remain absconding.
Police sources confirmed that several accused have prior records under the NDPS Act, with earlier cases registered by Rabale, Rabale MIDC, and Pantnagar police stations.
Authorities are actively investigating the drug supply chain and working to apprehend the absconding suspects.
