BROOKLYN, NY — Quintin Green, 24, of Brooklyn, also known as “Wild Child,” was sentenced to 35 years in federal prison on Wednesday for the 2020 murder of former federal witness Shatavia Walls, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York.
The U.S. attorney’s office reported that Green, a member of the Ninedee Gang, conspired with others to murder Walls in retaliation for her cooperation with federal authorities. Members of the gang had distributed fliers around the Louis H. Pink Houses in East New York, calling Walls a “rat” and accusing her of continuing to cooperate with law enforcement.
The situation escalated on July 4, 2020, when Walls confronted Ninedee Gang members for lighting fireworks near children, which led to a physical altercation. Green’s co-defendant, gang leader Maliek Miller, 31, of Brooklyn, arrived at the scene and fought with Walls, calling her a “snitch.”
After the confrontation, Miller and Green plotted Walls’ murder. On July 7, 2020, Green and co-defendant Joe Santana, 20, of Brooklyn, spotted Walls and opened fire. Green chased Walls through the Pink Houses, shooting her multiple times. She died from her injuries 10 days later.
John J. Durham, U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, called the murder a “calculated” act driven by a desire to retaliate against Walls for her testimony and perceived disrespect toward the gang. “Quintin Green shot an unarmed woman in cold blood to make a name for himself in the gang, but he should be called out for what he truly is, a cowardly killer,” said Durham.
Miller was convicted of murder in aid of racketeering in June 2024 and faces a mandatory life sentence. Santana, who pleaded guilty, was sentenced to 22 years in federal prison.
